Design Rules
to Live By

A few principles that keep a space feeling expressive, not chaotic. Use them as guardrails while you build a space that actually feels like you!

01

Bones before flair

Start with solid foundations! Think good furniture, layout, and flow; then add the fun stuff.

02

Cap the palette, not the collection

Limit your colors, not your treasures. A tight palette lets more objects live together peacefully.

03

Patterns; USE them!

Florals, geometrics, stripes, dots, etc. Mix at least three, but vary the scale so they don't fight.

04

Put the walls to work

Shelves, gallery walls, lights, wallpaper, and hooks turn empty vertical space into personality.

05

Cluster, don't confetti

Group objects with intention. A group formed together reads as design; scattered bits read as clutter.

06

When is it finished?

A new item can come in, but an old item must leave in its place. That's how the magic stays manageable.
